Wisdom Teeth Removal and Tooth Extractions | Bracken Ridge Dental

Wisdom Teeth Removal

However, not all wisdom teeth will cause problems. If there are signs yours require removal, our dentists will take an x-ray to assess the situation, before recommending the right treatment. Sometimes, it can even be beneficial to leave them as they are, to avoid any potential complications in removing them.

What is the process?

Usually, the dentist will make a small incision in the gums to allow access to the impacted tooth. They may also remove some of the surrounding bone and cut the tooth to allow easier and gentle removal of the tooth. After the extraction, the dentist will place stitches to close the wound and make sure it heals up well.

At Bracken Ridge Dental, our dentists are trained to provide effective local anaesthetic, to ensure you have a painless procedure.

Should I get my wisdom teeth removed in the chair or at the hospital?

Many dentists in Brisbane refer patients to have their wisdom teeth removed under general anaesthetic. However, having your wisdom teeth removed under local anaesthesia avoids the extra costs of specialist anaesthetist and private hospital fees. Our dentists at Bracken Ridge Dental have undergone advanced training in gentle and safe wisdom teeth surgery, under local anaesthetic. We also offer oral sedation and laughing gas to help anxious or nervous patients.

Of course, if you or we feel that your wisdom teeth are best removed under general anaesthesia, we will make the appropriate recommendations.
